There's this yellow stuffed dinosaur,
Sitting in this girl's attic.
She used to always play with it,
Every minute
Of everyday.
Inseparable they called them,
She brought him everywhere.
Named him Dino the Triceratops
Who's body was all fuzzy.
She had him by her side,
In morning on her shoulder,
At night on her belly.
She talked to him
Told him everything,
Her deepest darkest fears,
Her wondrous beautiful experiences,
The things she ate,
The things she hates
And the things she loves the most.
She cuddled him in her sleep,
Buried her head in his.
She cried into his fuzz,
And left a deep greyish mark.
Years went by
He's still by her bed.
But not so used anymore.
She only comes to him at night
Or when she's lonely and sore.
He still loves her
Yes he does,
He hears her woes and moans.
He's known her since the start,
He won't let her go.
He can still remember,
Her soft and gentle care.
The hands which used to hold him,
Those weary loving hands
Decades pass
He's on a shelf,
For her kids to see.
